Artist: The Redemption Song!
Title: Victims
Catalog #: FDR 011
Release Date: October 12, 2004
Matthew’s Notes: This was a really strange time for the label. I had some distribution and I was working an internship with Shane C. Drake, doing videos in Los Angeles (if you want to see me in a bunny suit, look on YouTube for the video “Mexico” by Brandtson).
I had called the distro company and told them I hadn’t been paid in a while and they go, “Oh, expect something in the mail soon.” It wasn’t a check I should have been expecting, but a bankruptcy letter from the company. I really thought this was going to be the end of the label as the company had about 4000 copies of our albums and they owed me over $10,000. Through God’s will, I was able to stay afloat.
This was also a strange release because Nathan of TRS! had been diagnosed with cancer and he wasn’t going to be around for the release of the CD. We wanted to put it out even though TRS! couldn’t play because we didn’t know if Nathan would survive the cancer. Nathan spent months in Houston, TX, getting treatment and came back better than ever.
This CD may only be 12 minutes long, but in those 12 minutes I have found an endless amount of encouragement in my life.
