Artist: The Apprentice
Title: An American Portrait
Catalog #: FDR 012
Release Date: April 10, 2005
Matthew’s Notes: I was super excited for this release. I had been hearing demos for about a year from Eric for this concept record. The first song I heard was “We Were Just Eighteen,” which tells the tragic story of a girl who gets pregnant, then gets married because she feels it’s the right thing to do.
This CD was recorded by Matt Malpass and drums were by the producer Matt Goldman (The Almost, Copeland, Underoath). Eric asked me to play bass on tour for him that summer since many of the songs were full-band. I ended up playing bass that summer and ever since.
Many people have said this is the best release from the label. It was released in April 2005 just before I graduated college.
